What every answer contains
- Every charge line by line: customs duty, surcharge, excise duty, luxury tax, PAL, SSCL, VAT and the vehicle entitlement levy, then the total tax and the total landed cost in rupees.
- The rate version and the date it was published, so you can say which rates a figure used. The full history is on the rate changes page.
- The legal sources behind each charge (gazette and Act numbers, with links to the official copies) and the day they were last checked.
- A link back to the calculator for the same vehicle type, where a PDF can be saved.
- A reminder that it is an estimate: the final duty is assessed by Sri Lanka Customs.

The limits are per address, so one office sharing an address shares the allowance. Need more? Ask for a free key.
Good to know
- It is an estimate. Show the disclaimer and the rate version next to any figure you display.
- Ask each time. Rates change with each gazette and exchange rates move daily, so do not copy figures into your own code or cache calculations.
- Privacy. A calculation sends only the vehicle type, size, age and CIF value. No personal details are needed or kept. See the privacy policy.
- Stability. The API is versioned (
/api/v1). Within a version fields are only ever added, never removed or renamed.
